Antonio Pantano was a professor of music at the University of Messina. Well educated and with a comfortable life he decided to marry and start a family. His very young wife Concetta, loved adventure and persuaded Antonio to come to America and so they did. The couple took up residence in Long Island City, NY. Soon their first child was born who they named Ida. A second girl Elena, followed and then a third, Maria Cristina. The couple divorced after the birth of their third child and Antonio took on the responsibility of raising the girls who he placed in a convent in Manhattan. He taught music in New York City and lived a simple quiet life. He longed for his native Sicily but he never returned.
