PASQUALE & MICHELINE ARMELLINO

![]() BENEVENTO
Pasquale & Micheline left Faicchio, Campania, Italy and arrived at Ellis Island on January 27, 1902. They were bound for Chicago to meet up with Pasquale's brother-in-law.
The Armellino family settled in Steger, Illinois with their children: Anthony (my grandfather), Assunta, Stephie, Michael and Mary. Assunta died in a tragic accident at the age of five and, though not pictured, was always in the hearts of the family.
As a young man, my grandfather (Anthony) worked as a piano tuner in Chicago where he met my grandmother, Marion Bartosz. After they married he worked as a machinist; a job he was able to keep during the depression.
The people in their flat would come and sell the food they got through welfare in exchange for the money since, for them, it was honorable to go to the store with actual money. My grandfather and grandmother had three children, Anthony Jr. (my father), Marilyn and Michelene.
The pictures are of my Great-Grandparents and their family and my grandparents and their family.
