My father Arturo Gaudio was born in Longobardi Calabria in 1943. Together my father and his two brothers Francesco and Mario came to America in 1958. All three were very young and feared the long trip ahead. They were to join there family members already in America in persuit of a better life. The journey was a difiicult one but, with years of struggle and much sacrifice they achieved the American dream. All three were successful in their endeavors. My father became a successful business owner and provider for his wife Emily and, two children Joseph and Deborah. Due to his hard work he was able to provide his children with everything he lacked as a child. My fathers greatest achievement was to see that his two children were educated and successful in their careers. Unfortunately, my father was taken away from us before his time. Before he too was able to enjoy the fruits of his labour. My father passed away in August of 1999. We are saddened by his loss but hold his memory |
