Giuseppe Forzisi was born in 1939 in the town of Fiumefreddo Di Sicilia. In 1959 he sailed to the USA from the dock of Messina. He enjoyed his long voyage thinking of the wonderful life he would lead in New York. He enjoyed playing shuffleboard with the other people who were sailing that day. After 12 days at sea he saw Lady Liberty and his heart was full of joy. Thinking to himself, I am finally here.
He traveled to Buffalo, New York and worked as a baker for seven years. He met Josephine Sardina at a church festival and they fell in love. They courted for two years and were married on June 26, 1965.
They grew in their love and had five children: Rosalie, Maria, Sheila, Salvatore and Teresa.
Giuseppe opened his own Italian restaurant in 1976 in Kenmore, New York. He called it Sardina's Italian Restaurant after his wife's maiden name. He prospered in this endeavor. His restaurant had been in
business for over 20 years.
He died on November 5, 1996 leaving behind his wife of 31 years, his five children and four grandchildren Krystal, Catherine and Jessica Bailey and Mikey DeFranco.
He reached the American dream that he traveled across the sea to reach and he leaves a legacy of hope, courage, perseverance and persistence. He has instilled in his five children the qualities of hard
work and dedication. He gave his children hope to seek out what they wanted in life and go after it and if people tell you, "you can't do that" know that you can
